Movement That Never Feels Entirely Predictable

The Avernoza® Pounce Adaptive Motion Toy transforms the familiar motorized cat teaser into a considered object designed for both feline play and refined interiors.

At the center of its low Deep Sage platform, a quiet rotating turret moves a flexible curved wand around the toy. The attached wool-felt lure changes direction, pauses briefly and returns with varied movement patterns intended to resemble the unpredictable behavior of small ground-level prey.

Rather than repeating one continuous circular motion, Pounce alternates between broad sweeps, shorter movements, pauses and reversals.

The flexible wand allows the lure to move slightly differently each time it touches the floor or is contacted by a paw, adding natural variation without requiring an exposed spring or metal wire.

Pounce does not use a laser. The cat can physically track, touch and capture the soft lure during supervised play.

The weighted powder-coated aluminum body helps keep the toy stable, while a silicone underside limits movement across hard flooring.

The Avernoza crest appears once on the front of the Deep Sage housing. It is stamped directly into the metal before the powder coating is applied, forming a permanent monochrome bas-relief rather than a printed decoration or attached badge.

A MORE NATURAL MOVEMENT PATTERN

Many automatic toys repeat the same circular path at a constant speed.

Pounce is designed to create more variation.

The rotating turret can alternate between:

• Long searching sweeps

• Short darting movements

• Slow stalking sequences

• Sudden direction changes

• Brief still pauses

• Controlled restart movements

This changing rhythm encourages the cat to watch, wait, approach and pounce rather than simply following a continuously rotating object.

Movement patterns are generated inside the device and do not require an app or internet connection.

THREE PLAY MODES

QUICK HUNT

A focused supervised play session using mixed speeds, pauses and reversals.

This mode is intended for an active play period when the owner remains nearby.

CALM STALK

Uses slower sweeps and longer pauses for cautious cats, kittens being introduced to moving toys or cats that prefer gentler motion.

INTERVAL PLAY

Alternates short activity periods with extended rest periods.

This mode can reintroduce motion after a pause, helping renew interest without operating continuously.

Final play-session durations should be confirmed through production testing and user trials.

PHYSICAL CAPTURE—WITHOUT A LASER

Pounce uses a physical wool-felt lure rather than projected laser light.

The cat can follow the lure, place a paw on it and briefly capture it as part of the play sequence.

The motor should detect significant resistance and pause the turret rather than continuing to pull against the cat.

After the lure has been released, the toy can resume its programmed movement.

The overload-detection force and restart behavior must be verified using the final motor, gearbox and firmware.

REPLACEABLE WOOL-FELT LURE

The included prey lure is made from layered wool felt in Warm Ivory and natural taupe.

Its abstract moth-and-leaf shape provides several soft edges that can move independently as the wand changes direction.

The lure does not include plastic eyes, glued gems, bells, real feathers or exposed metal attachments.

A reinforced short braided connector secures the lure to the flexible wand without creating a long loose string.

The lure is a replaceable wear component. It should be inspected before every session and replaced when torn, heavily frayed or partially detached.

FLEXIBLE MOTION WAND

The curved wand is made from a resilient composite material designed to flex when contacted.

This flexibility creates small variations in height and direction while reducing the rigid impact associated with exposed metal teaser rods.

The wand attaches to the motor turret through a protected locking collar.

It can be removed for storage, inspection or replacement without opening the motor housing.

LOW, STABLE CONSTRUCTION

Pounce uses a broad asymmetrical base rather than a tall tower.

The low center of gravity and weighted aluminum housing help the device remain stable during normal paw contact.

A silicone ring and individual grip points beneath the base provide additional resistance on wood, stone and tile floors.

The toy should still be placed on a clear, level surface with enough surrounding space for the wand to rotate safely.

QUIET DRIVE SYSTEM

The motor and reduction mechanism are enclosed beneath the Warm Ivory turret.

Internal isolation components are intended to reduce vibration reaching the outer metal housing.

The production target is a restrained mechanical sound suitable for indoor use without sudden loud clicks during direction changes.

Any specific decibel claim must be measured on the final production model under standardized testing conditions.

RECHARGEABLE OPERATION

Pounce contains an internal rechargeable battery and charges through a rear USB-C connection.

Once charged, the cable is removed before play. This prevents a loose power cable from entering the cat’s play area.

Planned battery targets include:

• Up to approximately six hours of accumulated active movement

• Several days of typical interval use

• Automatic standby between play sessions

Actual runtime will depend on movement speed, resistance, session frequency, battery condition and environmental temperature.

THREE-POINT CONTROL INTERFACE

The recessed control area provides direct access to the essential functions without a screen.

The three controls are intended for:

• Power and pause

• Play-mode selection

• Movement-intensity selection

A small indicator communicates charging, selected mode and low-battery status.

There is no requirement to download an app or create an account before the toy can be used.

INTRODUCING POUNCE TO YOUR CAT

Every cat responds differently to a moving toy.

Place Pounce on the floor while it is switched off and allow the cat to inspect it without pressure.

The first session should begin in Calm Stalk mode.

Remain nearby and allow the cat to observe the lure before encouraging interaction.

If the cat appears uncertain, stop the movement and try again later using a familiar scent or reward near—but not attached to—the lure.

Never push, carry or physically place a nervous cat beside the moving wand.

SETUP

1. Remove all packaging and inspect every component.
2. Place the base on a dry, level floor.
3. Insert the flexible wand into the protected turret collar.
4. Confirm that the wand is fully locked.
5. Attach one compatible Avernoza lure to the reinforced connector.
6. Charge the toy completely before first use.
7. Disconnect and remove the charging cable.
8. Clear furniture, cables, bowls and fragile objects from the wand’s movement area.
9. Begin with the lowest movement setting.
10. Supervise the first complete play session.

HOW TO USE

Press the power control to wake the toy.

Select the preferred play mode.

Choose an appropriate movement intensity.

Allow the cat to observe before approaching.

Pause the device if the lure becomes trapped beneath furniture or held firmly by the cat.

End the session while the cat remains interested rather than allowing continuous overstimulation.

After use, switch off the device and inspect the lure, connector and wand.

CLEANING AND CARE

Switch off Pounce before cleaning.

Disconnect the charging cable.

Remove the lure and flexible wand.

Wipe the metal housing and turret with a soft, slightly damp cloth.

Do not submerge the base, motor, controls, battery or charging port.

Clean the wool-felt lure only according to its supplied instructions.

Allow every component to dry completely before reassembly.

Do not use abrasive brushes, metal pads, bleach or harsh chemical cleaners.

Keep hair and loose fibers away from the rotating turret seam.

Inspect the charging connection regularly and keep it dry.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
